2008 French GP, Qualifying: Raikkonen leads Ferrari front row
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has conquered the pole position for Sunday’s French Grand Prix at the Magny Cours circuit establishing at the same time the 200th pole position for the Maranello team. Teammate Felipe Massa, fastest in Q1 and Q3 finished second completing an all Ferrari front row. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton qualified third but given the 10 place grid penalty for Montreal’s pit lane incident with Raikkonen, will start the French Grand Prix from the 13th spot. Consequently, Renault’s Fernando Alonso and Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, fourth and fifth in qualifying, will move up to second row.
Heikki Kovalainen managed to get only P6 while Championship leader Robert Kubica P7. The Pole, along with teammate Nick Heidfeld – knocked out during Q2 – had a disappointing qualifying session after their one-two at the Canadian Grand Prix. Mark Webber (P8), David Coulthard (P9) and Timo Glock (P10) round up the first ten positions.
