Super AguriFumito Akita, Super Aguri’s co-owner, has confirmed earlier today the team’s difficult financial situation following the collapsed deal with Magma Group, but has denied that new buyers should be found within hours in order to avoid the team’s failure. “There’s the possibility of missing the Spanish Grand Prix”, Akita told Reuters news agency. “We were banking on Magma’s buyout but they turned it down. It feels like being jilted by a lover”.

“Even if we have the money to go to Spain we might not be able to carry on after that. I don’t think there will be a decision until after the weekend.”

“It is likely to be Monday or Tuesday until we hear. It will be very, very tight,” added the Japanese.
