Super Aguri risking to miss Spanish Grand Prix

Super AguriThe Super Aguri F1 team is currently risking to miss the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled for April 25th, 26th and 27th, 2008. Following the statement issued by Aguri Suzuki on Wednesday, where the Japanese outfit confirmed that the Magma Group has called the deal off, negotiations are under way to keep in the F1 circus the 11th Formula 1 team.

On Wednesday it was rumored that a direct backing from Honda Racing, or FOM Chief Bernie Ecclestone, might be essential in order to see racing Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson in the Spanish Grand Prix and ensure the team’s survival at least until the entry of other potential buyers.

UPDATE,  April 17th 2008: Honda Racing have ruled out rescuing Super Aguri. “We intend to continue the present structure of our support for Super Aguri,” a Honda spokesman told the French news agency AFP.
