New F1 standard circuit to be built in Russia

Brazilian Grand Prix, Interlagos 2007 Race StartAccording to latest reports, Hans Geist, former manager of Austria and Bahrain F1 tracks has been appointed to supervise the construction of a F1-standard circuit near Moscow, in Russia. The new circuit will be built in the town of Volokolamsk approximately 80 km west of Moscow, but as of now there’s no confirmation that a F1 Grand Prix will be hosted. “The track will be designed by Hermann Tilke to formula one standards. But the operator may not necessarily have a grand prix, even if the opportunity would be accepted if presented,” Hans Geist was quoted saying to Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten.
