McLaren: Ron Dennis hits out at Hamilton criticism
Ron Dennis has defended Lewis Hamilton by hitting out at the criticism (mostly made by British press) directed towards the young Briton, following the pit lane incident last Sunday at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Hamilton after finishing his pit stop and before exiting the pit lane, didn’t notice a red light and crashed into the back of Raikkonen’s Ferrari, putting an early end to both drivers’ race.
The incident cost to Hamilton a 10-place grid penalty for the upcoming French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours circuit.
“It’s an accident you see often in the road and it’s an accident you will see again in F1,” Dennis told to Associated Press news agency.”It almost seems to be a British failing that we build our heroes and then take delight in focusing on their efforts or mistakes that occasionally occur,” he added.
