Australian Grand Prix MelbourneAccording to Australian newspaper Herald Sun a final decision on the future of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne is expected to be taken in the next weeks. Ron Walker, Australian GP Corporation Chief, would be in talks with FOM Chief Bernie Ecclestone already since March but race organisers are not willing to set up the event at night as requested by the Briton.

“It’s an event we want to keep and it’s one we’ll be doing everything possible to ensure that it does remain here in Melbourne in the years ahead,” said Minister Tim Holding. There are ongoing negotiations with Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA but we have ruled out a night grand prix and that is not negotiable,” he added.
