Hockenheim test, Day 1: Lewis Hamilton fastest
Lewis Hamilton has clocked the fastest lap time in the first day of testing at Hockenheim in Germany in preparation for next week’s German Grand Prix. The Briton’s best time was of 1:15.483 using a newly developed ‘shark fin‘ engine cover, similar to the one implement first by Red Bull Racing on the RB4 and copied by Renault, Williams, Toro Rosso and recently Force India. Kimi Raikkonen finished second three tenths adrift of Hamilton. Third fastest time for Williams’ Nico Rosberg and fourth for Force India’s Adrian Sutil.
The only red flag today was caused Honda’s test driver Alexander Wurz who spun off at the Mercedes Tribune corner while running on wet tyres.
