Bernie EcclestoneFormula One Management (FOM) Chief Bernie Ecclestone has considered ‘unnecessary’ the Racing Against Racism campaign recently promoted by the FIA and believes that Barcelona’s incident “was a one-off”. Last Wednesday, all Formula 1 teams, drivers and circuits received a request from the FIA to support the “Racing Against Racism” to help fight possible episodes of racism…

The campaign will be launched at this year’s  Spanish Grand Prix and has already been backed by Toyota, Super Aguri, McLaren-Mercedes and Ferrari.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5, Ecclestone said of the campaign: “I don’t think it’s necessary. All it does, like all these things, is give attention to the people who want attention. It was a one-off, nothing to worry about. We’d have to have a look it if anything like that happened again, but this is just an isolated incident”, he added.
