British GP, 1st Free Practice Session: Hamilton quickest
First free practice session at Silverstone’s Circuit: the young British driver, in front of Raikkonen’s and Massa’s Ferrari, Alonso 4th. Many errors from both McLaren drivers.
Silverstone (England), July 6th 2007 – Lewis Hamilton with his McLaren was the fastest driver on track during the first free practice session for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The Lap Times – Hamilton had a lap time of 1’21”100, preceding Raikkonen’s Ferrari by 0.111 seconds. The weather conditions were acceptable; cloudy but with dry track (17° for the air, 25° for the track). Third place for the other F2007, Felipe Massa’s one, with 0.185 seconds behind Hamilton. Fourth place for Fernando Alonso (0.575 seconds). In this first free practice session we had quite a few errors; Hamilton, Alonso and David Coulthard, traveled through Silverstone’s grass. Fifth place for Nico Rosberg with his Williams, sixth for Robert Kubica with his BMW Sauber.
The Tires – Bridgestone will supply medium and hard type of tires for the eleven teams racing this Sunday at Silverstone. The last time where the hard tires where used, was in occasion of Spanish Grand Prix. The medium type will be recognizable with a white line, technique used starting from Malaysian Grand Prix.
