Abu Dhabi Grand Prix set for October 2009

Abu Dhabi Grand PrixThe organisers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, have announced that the inaugural race will be held in October 2009, despite not being clear yet if it will be the last race of the season. The Abu Dhabi track, located in the United Arab Emirates, has been designed by Hermann Tilke, the German architect who, among others, has also designed Valencia’s Street Circuit and Singapore’s racetrack .

“The Tilke group has learnt its lessons from the tracks it built in the past and put all those lessons in to this track. We consider it will offer the best F1 racing in the world”, FOM Chief Bernie Ecclestone said of the new circuit.
