Vettel grabs Australian Grand Prix pole, Webber P2 

Webber completes an all Red Bull front row

Sebastian VettelRed Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has grabbed his second consecutive pole position in the season at Melbourne ahead of team-mate Mark Webber, locking up the front row of the Australian Grand Prix.

The German clocked a best time of 1:23.919, beating by 0.116 seconds Mark Webber (1:24.035).

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso managed to secure the third place on the grid (1:24.111), ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button (1:24.675), team-mate Felipe Massa (1:24.837), Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg (1:24.884), Michael Schumacher (1:24.927), Williams’ Rubens Barrichello (1:25.217), Renault’s Robert Kubica (1:25.372) and Force India’s Adrian Sutil (1:26.036).

2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton couldn’t make it past Q2 and had to settle with the 11th spot on Sunday’s grid. The Briton was followed by Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi, Force India’s Tonio Liuzzi, Sauber’s Pedro de la Rosa, Williams’ Nico Hulkenberg, Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi and Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari.

Lotus Racing duo Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli, despite being eliminated in Q1, finished up fastest among this year’s new teams.
