BMW Sauber F1.07Since this season’s beginning even Nick Heidfeld hadn’t expected the BMW-Sauber F1 Team to experience such success in its second season. As a consequence, Nick intends to add further success in the next seasons. “Before the season I didn’t think we could be this strong,” Nick admits. “I had expected Renault to be a tougher challenge. I hadn’t expected things to go so well.”

Following fifth place in its first year of existence, the BMW Sauber team improved to second place in the Constructors’ Championship in 2007 due to the FIA’s decision to eliminate the McLaren team from the official classification. Nevertheless, Nick recognises even more potential in the team and hopes to be able to compete for race victories and the World Championship in the next few years. “That is more realistic than ever before, particularly since I am convinced it can be possible with BMW,” Nick says, adding: “It probably won’t happen in 2008 but the goal of BMW is to win a race next season and then compete for the title. And that is my goal too.”
