Felipe Massa, blown engine, 2008 Hungarian Grand PrixA broken connecting rod caused the unexpected engine failure on Felipe Massa‘s F2008 during Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix. This is what the Ferrari technicians at the Maranello factory have established after having inspected thoroughly the Brazilian’s engine. The rod that connects the piston to the crankshaft never gave problems to the Italian team as it’s in use in their engines since the end of 2006 season. Quality controls however will be extended in order to avoid similar situations in the next races.
