Ross BrawnHonda Racing Team Principal, Ross Brawn, has stated that double world champion Fernando Alonso ‘could be tempted to sign for Honda Racing in 2009, if he fails to find an agreement with Ferrari’. The former Ferrari Technical Director, said that it’s not a secret that Alonso, who currently drives for ING Renault, is planning to leave the French outfit.

“I know what team he would like to go to, everyone does,” Brawn told Motorsport Aktuell. “Fernando is a very good driver that everyone would like to have sitting in their car,” he continued. “The reality is that, before we can talk seriously with him, the situation with Ferrari must be resolved.”

Brawn however has excluded possible issues with the Spaniard, like those he had in 2007 at McLaren Mercedes: “There would be no problem, not at all; the truth is that it would be a fascinating challenge. Broadly speaking, everyone who has worked with him speaks highly of him. With McLaren it was obviously difficult, but the people at Renault regard him very highly.”
