Mark Webber tops first British practice
Schumacher second quickest, Barrichello third.
Red Bull’s Mark Webber was the fastest man on track in the first free practice ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix at the renewed Silverstone circuit.
The Australian clocked a best time of (1:46.603, 19 laps), beating by 0.660 seconds Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher (1:47.263, 20 laps) and by 0.744 William’s Rubens Barrichello (1:47.347, 23 laps).
Fourth fastest time for Sauber’s Sergio Perez (1:47.422), fifth for Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (1:47.562), sixth for Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg (1:47.758), seventh for Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso (1:48.161) and eighth for local hero Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren (1:48.549).
Ninth fastest time overall for Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg ahead of Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari, Paul Di Resta in the other Force India, Sebastien Buemi in the other Toro Rosso, championship leader Sebastian Vettel, William’s Pastor Maldonado and McLaren’s Jenson Button.
