Adrian Sutil puts Force India into Q3 for the first time ever

Mark WebberRed Bull’s Mark Webber has grabbed his first ever pole position during the qualifying session for the 2009 German Grand Prix.

The Australian – who secured the third consecutive pole position for Red Bull Racing – clocked a best time of 1:32.230 after a session dominated by unstable weather conditions and beat by 0.127 seconds Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello (1:32.357).

Championship leader Jenson Button ended up third (1.32.473) ahead of local hero Sebastian Vettel (1:32.480), McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1:32.616) and Heikki Kovalainen (1:33.859).

Force India’s Adrian Sutil put his VJM02 into Q3 for the first time ever and ended up seventh (1:34.316) ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (1:34.576), Kimi Raikkonen (1:34.710) and Renault’s Nelsinho Piquet (1:34.803).

Double world champion Fernando Alonso was unfortunate to spin at the chicane during Q2 while on his flying lap and got knocked out from Q3. The Spaniard will start from the 12th spot on Sunday’s grid, ahead of Kazuki Nakajima, Jarno Trulli, Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica, Sebastien Buemi, Gincarlo Fisichella, Timo Glock and Sebastien Bourdais.
