Indianapolis Grand PrixTony George, owner of the American circuit, and Bernie Ecclestone didn’t found an agreement in order to arrange next year’s Grand Prix. After 8 years the F.1 leaves the United States.

Formula One’s “Circus” leaves the United States: The United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will not be on the 2008 Formula 1 schedule. Tony George and Formula One Management Ltd. CEO Bernie Ecclestone mutually agreed to not schedule a race at Indianapolis in 2008.

“After several discussions, Bernie Ecclestone and I were unable to agree how to keep Formula 1 in Indianapolis for the near term,” George said. “However, we have agreed to leave the door open for a potential future date. It has been a pleasure having the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis, and I hope that as we approach our Centennial Era at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, an opportunity might present itself that would allow its return.”

Las Vegas? – Formula One had the first GP at Indianapolis in 2000: the last one, has been disputed on June 17 2007 and has been won by McLaren’s young British driver and current leader of the Championship, Lewis Hamilton. Therefore, the only North American Grand Prix that still remains in the schedule is Montreal’s one, in Canada: Bernie Ecclestone, who has previously stated that the Gran Prix in USA aren’t interesting enough, has confirmed today that a negotiation exists in order to bring Formula One’s “Circus” to Las Vegas for an attractive city circuit.
