Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, said to be ready to defer until 2010 the newly introduced ‘most wins’ point system, which awards the F1 Drivers’ Championship to the driver that will win the most races. “If, for any reason, the Formula One teams do not now agree with the new system, its implementation will be deferred until 2010,” said an FIA statement.

The announcement came after a statement issued by the FOTA (Formula One Teams’ Association) earlier on Friday, where the Association has questioned the validity of the newly imposed ‘most wins’ point system.

I LOVE F1 RACING AND I THINK ANYTHING NEW KEEPS US ON
THE EDGE SUPPORTING OUR FAVORITE DRIVER AND TEAMS. DOING
THE SAME OLD STUFF GETS OLD. I AM A FERRARI FAN BUT MAYBE THIS MAY BE A CHANCE FOR SOME TEAMS TO SNEAK BY THE
TOP DOGS AND KEEP THE INTEREST UP FOR THE UNDERDOG. I
WISH ALL TEAMS THE VERY BEST FOR THE 09 SEASON AND SAFE
    RACING .
