In an interview with a Spanish sports newspaper, double World Champion Fernando Alonso has stated that at least at the Albert Park circuit, the KERS system equipped on his Renault R29 hasn’t been so useful.

“It was not very useful,” the Spaniard was quoted as saying. “In terms of laptime we knew it doesn’t give us an advantage, but I used it when I was right behind Timo Glock (no KERS) and the truth is that it was no help at all.”

“At the Albert Park circuit there was no benefit. But let’s see what happens at tracks with very long straights, like Bahrain or Monza.”
