McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has been promoted to third place – the Briton finished the 2009 Australian Grand Prix in fourth – following a 25-second penalty handed to Toyota’s Jarno Trulli.

The race stewards penalised the Italian at the end of the Grand Prix for having regained a position to the Briton while the Safety Car was on track after Sebastian Vettel’s and Robert Kubica’s collision.

Toyota Motorsport confirmed that it will appeal the stewards’ decision.
