Autodromo di Monza - Day 1 TestsDay 1 of testing on the famous Autrodromo di Monza began today under the very warm Italian Sun, before cloud cover moved in and brought a curtain of rain late in the day. Since additional rain is expected over the next few days, the three-day testing programme could be extended to four although nothing definite has been decided at this point. Each team had one car running today, with the exception of the Spyker team which did not participate.

The specific needs involved with racing at Monza brought aerodynamic testing to the forefront of the agenda, as were braking set-ups and tyre comparisons. At the conclusion of today’s exercise, the top three list shows Lewis Hamilton fastest aboard the McLaren-Mercedes MP4/22, followed by Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari F2007, with Nick Heidfeld coming next only an eyewink behind at the wheel of the BMW Sauber F1.07.
