Red BullMark Webber was today at the wheel of Red Bull’s RB4 for the first day of a three day test session in France, while David Coulthard will take over tomorrow and Sebastien Buemi on Friday. This is one of the most complex tests of the season as the Paul Ricard circuit offers a variety of track types, so that today and tomorrow, the team is concentrating on Monaco setup, while for the final day, the activity switches to a different layout with a long straight to prepare for the Grand Prix in Montreal, Canada.

The Australian had a trouble free day, running with high Monaco downforce levels, evaluating some new aerodynamic components, as well as working on mechanical set up. Mark also tried both types of tyre that Bridgestone will bring to Monaco – the ‘soft‘ and ‘super-soft‘ even though the Paul Ricard normally demands a harder tyre.

The other difference between the real Monte Carlo track and this fake one is that the Ricard surface, unlike the city streets of Monaco, is very smooth.

Tomorrow, David Coulthard will continue with the Monaco programme, which might be affected by rain showers, according to the forecast.
