Flavio Briatore Renault F1ING Renault’s Team Principal Flavio Briatore, hasn’t agreed with Fernando Alonso’s recent statements in which the Spaniard has claimed that the R28 will probably stay out of the podium fight for the rest of the season. “Wait three or four races and then ask me again where do we stand, as I will have a pretty good idea of what our status is. At the moment everything is just about guessing – there is nothing concrete,” the Italian told Formula One’s official website.

In the meantime, Denis Chevrier, Renault’s engine operations manager, has pointed to the Spanish Grand Prix as a crucial moment for measuring Renault’s performance with other F1 teams. “We will need to improve a lot more than the other teams. If our developments are not much better than theirs, we will obviously stay in the same situation,” he added.
