Bernie Ecclestone against Magny-Cours“If you compare Istanbul’s Circuit with Magny-Cours one and with Silverstone’s, it’s like comparing the Industrialized world with the Third World”. Bernie Ecclestone, FOM (Formula One Management, F1 commercial rights owner) president, has repeated once again, that this will be the last French Grand Prix that will take place on Magny-Cours Circuit. “Coming to Magny-Cours has been a huge mistake – he said – the circuit hasn’t ever progressed the way we wanted. This track doesn’t have a future anymore and Sunday’s one will be the last GP”. But race organizers don’t give up. There’s a signed contract that doesn’t expire at the end of the season: “In 2008 and 2009, the GP have to be run in Magny-Cours – Gerard Dumas, president of the Circuit, has said – this is indicated in the contract. All of us know that it must be restructured”.
