It was reported recently that, although the Japanese team announced the extension of Brazilian veteran Rubens Barrichello’s contract not only in July but again last month… Honda boss Nick Fry may have re-engaged with the driver market amid the prospect of Fernando Alonso’s McLaren exit.

Just as Takuma Sato was downgraded to the Honda satellite team at the end of 2005, then, 35 year old Barrichello could also be facing a move to Super Aguri, according to the British magazine F1 Racing. Barrichello conspicuously failed to score a single point this season, and reportedly drew the ire of the team with several below-par performances compared with team-mate Jenson Button. One Honda mechanic is quoted as saying: “It’s about time he retired, isn’t it?”
