Australian GP, 1st Free Practice Session: Raikkonen on top

F2008 at Fiorano CircuitIn the first free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix, this season’s opening race, Kimi Raikkonen clocked the fastest lap time. The Finn’s lap time was of 1’26”461 preceding Lewis Hamilton’s MP4-23 (2nd) and Felipe Massa (3rd). Hamilton’s teammate Heikki Kovalainen had the 4th best time and was followed by Mark Webber (5th) and Fernando Alonso (6th). Seventh best for BMW’s Robert Kubica, eighth for Timo Glock, ninth for Sebastian Vettel and tenth for Jarno Trulli.

Williams’ Nico Rosberg missed most of the session as he faced problems with his FW30 gearbox while the Super Aguri team completed only few laps at the end of the practice, given their lack of spare parts.
