Sebastian Vettel grabs Bahrain GP pole
Felipe Massa in P2, Fernando Alonso in P3
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has grabbed the first pole position of the 2010 season ahead of Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
The young German clocked a best time of 1:54.101, beating by 0.141 seconds Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (1:54.242).
Fernando Alonso ended up third (1:54.608) ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1:55.217), Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg (1:55.241), Red Bull’s Mark Webber (1:55.284) and Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher (1:55.524).
Reigning world champion Jenson Button qualified 8th (1:55.672) and was followed by Renault’s Robert Kubica (1:55.885) and Force India’s Adrian Sutil (1:56.309).
Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock – the quickest among the new cars – finished 20th, ahead of Lotus Racing’s duo Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen, team-mate Lucas di Grassi and HRT’s Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok.
