Fernando Alonso tops Bahrain Saturday practice
Rosberg second fastest, Webber third
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso has climbed on top of the timesheets in the third and final practice for Sunday’s 2010 Bahraini Grand Prix. The Spaniard completed 14 laps, the quickest in 1:54.099 beating by 0.269 seconds Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg (1:54.368).
Third fastest time for Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher (1:54.533) ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel (1:54.646), Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (1:54.739), McLaren’s Jenson Button (1:55.000), Renault’s Robert Kubica (1:55.331) and Force India’s Tonio Liuzzi (1:55.432).
12th time for McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1:55.860) who had to end the session early after a problem with the left front brake duct on his MP4-25.
20th time for Lotus Racing’s Heikki Kovalainen (1:59.789) followed by team-mate Jarno Trulli (2:01.259) and HRT’s Bruno Senna (2:04.001).
No time set for Virgin Racing’s Lucas di Grassi who had a gearbox problem during his installation lap and HRT’s Karun Chandhok after a hydraulic issue.
The drivers will be back on the Bahraini track in less than two hours for the first qualifying session of the 2010 season.
