Michael Schumacher and Jean TodtFollowing Jean Todt’s election for the FIA presidency, seven time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has expressed his happiness for the result.

“I was in Paris today and experienced closely how clear Jean won the election for the FIA-presidency: 135 to 49 votes, you do not have to comment this further,” wrote Schumacher on his website.

“The right man has won. Of course I am very happy for him, especially as I – being both a friend and a motor sportsman – have been convinced from the very beginning that he was the more competent contender,” he continued.

“I really believe that with his team-orientated leading style he will bring fresh air which will do the FIA good. He is facing a great challenge now but I have not seen any challenge yet which he was not up to. My congratulations to him!,” he added.
