Niki Lauda: “Ferrari clearly ahead”

With two weeks remaining before this season opener Grand Prix in Australia, Niki Lauda, the Austrian F1 champion, said that in his opinion the Maranello-based team has a clear advantage over the other F1 teams. Lauda, despite McLaren’s progress in the latest tests, states that the gap between the Woking-based team and Ferrari ‘is about three of four tenths per lap‘. However, the Austrian believes that the true gap will be shown only after Melbourne’s Grand Prix. “Melbourne is an atypical circuit, just like Monte Carlo. We will only know the true balance of power at the second race in Malaysia,” he said.
