Nico Hulkenberg ready to test for Williams at Jerez

Nico HulkenbergYoung German driver Nico Hulkenberg, coming from F3 Euroseries, is getting ready to race for Williams in the upcoming tests at Jerez in Spain this week; Williams has just confirmed such report. Hulkenberg, will test tomorrow and Wednesday during the last Formula 1 test of this year. The two-day run will mark the first time that the 20 year old has driven a Formula One car.

Williams have a vacancy for a test and reserve driver for next season, with Kazuki Nakajima having moved up to a race seat for 2008. Hulkenberg’s run is part of an evaluation for the test driver role, although it is possible that other young drivers could test for the team at the start of next year.

Nico Hulkenberg is a former German Formula BMW champion, who shot to fame when he dominated the 2006/2007 A1 GP series for Team Germany. He finished third in the F3 Euroseries last year, and has just signed for another season in the F3 category for 2008.
