Martin WhitmarshLewis Hamilton might be just a step away to secure his first Formula 1 title, but his team remains still cautious about the Briton’s chances. According to Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren CEO, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen are the big favourites for the victory at the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix. “No one is going to go and beat Ferrari in Brazil. It is not a super comfortable position, but it is not a bad position going into the last grand prix.  It is very easy not to finish a race,” said Whitmarsh.

Despite this, Whitmarsh has praised Hamilton’s dominant race in China. “I think the way Lewis conducted himself over the course of this weekend – he had a lot of criticism flowing from last weekend, and he answered that. He was totally mature, he was driving within himself and that is how you win championships. He did a great job.”

The Woking based team however, is currently evaluating changes to the MP4-23 ahead of the final round of this year’s F1 championship. “It may be nothing, but we have put the effort into primarily an aerodynamic package to enhance the efficiency of the car,” said Whitmarsh. “And hopefully that is delivering while we have been away, and if it is we will have it on the car,” he added.
