Marc Gene', Ferrari test driverThe Ferrari F1 team is set to introduce several improvements on its car, the F60, for the upcoming and crucial Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Among the improvements, the Italian team will introduce for the first time the controversial rear diffuser and it’s believed the team’s test driver Marc Gene’ will evaluate the new aero package later this week in a secret airfield.

At Ferrari everyone is confident the new upgrades will improve dramatically the disappointing and out of pace F60 seen so far. “Last week in Bahrain, we were around half a second slower than the Brawns but we are hoping to close such gap next week in Barcelona,” said Gene’. “We know however, that most of the teams will have substantial upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix – especially the BMW Sauber team. It will be a crucial race as we will have a better picture where every team stands.”

Whether the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) is useful, Gene’ seems to be free from doubt. “We have a car that needs it,” said the Spaniard. “The only issue we had so far was on the reliability side, but we know that the F60 is faster with the KERS.”

“The Ferrari F60B has the most upgrades I’ve seen so far since I joined Ferrari in 2004,” added Gene’ on the revised car.
