Lewis Hamilton will also be interviewed by Italian authorities as part of the criminal investigation into the espionage case that this year shocked Formula One. Teammate and championship rival Fernando Alonso, who like Hamilton is not under investigation, was questioned in Ferrari’s local region of Modena for two hours yesterday.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also reported that Pedro de la Rosa, McLaren’s primary test driver, will be similarly interviewed soon. McLaren chiefs including Ron Dennis were at Monza last month informed that they would be investigated for possible fraud, embezzlement and espionage. “Alonso is only a witness,” magistrate Giuseppe Tibis was quoted as saying.
