Heikki KovalainenPilar Caballero, a spokesman of the Hospital General de Catalunya has announced on Monday that McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen will stay a second night in the Spanish medical institution, following his scaring crash during Sunday’s Grand Prix; the doctors have ruled out so far major physical injuries.

“I am happy with how Heikki is doing,” Aki Hintsa, McLaren’s doctor, has explained. “Considering the crash he had, he is doing very well.”

UPDATE: In contrast with what was announced by Caballero, McLaren-Mercedes has confirmed through a statement that Kovalainen will leave the hospital ‘later on Monday’. McLaren’s statement read:

This morning Heikki underwent further tests and scans which all went positively and showed no problems. Consequently Heikki will be released from hospital later today. He will then stay in Spain for a few days relaxing before returning home to start a light training programme.
