Heikki KovalainenMcLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen said on Sunday that he could have won the Trukish Grand Prix securing at the same time his first career win in Formula 1, if he hadn’t been forced to pit for a new tyre. On race start the Finn had a slight contact with Raikkonen’s F2008 which punctured his tyre. Consequently his two pit stop strategy had to be changed.

“I was on a similar strategy to Massa and believe that I could have won the race” said the Finn. “My qualifying was very good, and I think my strategy today would have been very strong. Talking about it doesn’t do anything, though. It was my most competitive weekend. Hopefully I can continue in the same way.”
