French Grand PrixThe French Motorsports Federation (FFSA) has announced unexpectedly that the 2009 edition of the French Grand Prix, despite being included in next season’s revised FIA calendar, has been cancelled due to financial difficulties. A statement issued by the Federation said:

“For reasons related to the financial situation, the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile (FFSA) has decided to cancel the Grand Prix of France. The FFSA would like to thank all customers who attended the Grand Prix of France and have supported this international event in recent years.”

With such decision and with next year’s calendar reduced to 17 races, the Canadian Grand Prix, dropped initially from the FIA calendar, could have a chance of being reintroduced.
