David Coulthard gets five place grid penalty
David Coulthard got a five place grid penalty in today’s Monaco Grand Prix for having changed his gearbox. Following his crash at the exit of Monte Carlo’s tunnel during Saturday’s Qualifying session, the Scot damaged heavily his RB4. The mechanics were able to repair most of the car but the gearbox had to be replaced.
This means that Coulthard will start the Monaco Grand Prix from the fifteenth place, behind Honda’s Rubens Barrichello.
The Scot is the third driver to be hit with a gearbox penalty. Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel and Force India’s Giancarlo Fisichella were already demoted five places on the grid.
