Brazilian GP: FIA official to ensure McLaren equality

Fernando Alonso Pit stop at British Grand Prix 2007An official directly from FIA, will oversee McLaren’s treatment of both their drivers during the Brazilian Grand Prix, to ensure there is complete equality between Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. The race at Interlagos will decide who will win the 2007 Drivers’ Championship.

Carlos Garcia, president of the Spanish motorsport federation and member of the World Motor Sport Council, declared to the newspaper Diario As: “FIA has ensured me that they will prevent that anything bad will happen to Fernando. Especially during qualifying, where many strange things have taken place.” The FIA confirmed that they will keep a close watch on McLaren to ensure complete equality. The governing body would also be looking for a special guard to watch over the MP4-22 of Alonso.
