Timo GlockFinally, Timo Glock has been given the permission to test for Toyota for the very first time at the upcoming tests at Jerez, in Spain next week. Glock signed a deal last week to join the Japanese team for 2008, but it remained unclear whether or not he would be allowed to test before January 1 2008, as he remains under contract with BMW Sauber until the end of the year.

Even though, discussions between BMW Sauber and Toyota resulted in Glock being allowed to test at Jerez,  but the German will have to wear an unbranded helmet and overalls. Glock will also not be allowed to take part in any public relations or marketing activities for Toyota.

Glock is due to run on all four days of the test, with the second car being driven for two days each by Jarno Trulli and the team’s new test driver Kamui Kobayashi.

In an interview with Italian magazine Autosprint this week, Glock said that his target for 2008 is simply to get regularly in the points. “I don’t know what I’ll be able to do during the championship,” he said. “It also depends on how the car will be, and the new regulations. It looks to me like more is demanded of the driver next year. There will be the matter of managing the tires, which tend to wear more quickly. I know I’d like to get consistently in the points. That would already be a good result for a first season.”
