Giancarlo FisichellaGiancarlo Fisichella’s Belgian Grand Prix weekend took a turn for the worse yesterday evening as it emerged that Renault has been forced to change the engine on his car ahead of todays’ Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps. Fisichella has set the 11th fastest time in qualifying, but did not make it into the final top ten shoot-out. With Robert Kubica also suffering an engine change penalty, the Italian Veteran had been expected to line-up in 10th position.

AFP (France) report that Renault’s 2.4 litre V8 was changed after qualifying, so Fisichella is therefore shuffled towards the back of the pack. The result is bad news for Fisichella who has not scored any points since the British Grand Prix, while teammate Heikki Kovalainen has notched up top-eight results in each of the last four Grand Prix.
