2008 Spanish GP, Qualifying: Raikkonen on pole, Alonso 2nd

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen snatched today his first seasonal pole position by beating by 0.091 seconds on his final lap double world champion Fernando Alonso, who surprisingly took P2. Felipe Massa after holding the provisional pole during most of Q3, finished on P3 while BMW-Sauber’s Robert Kubica on P4, just 0.007 seconds behind Massa.
The two McLaren-Mercedes had to settle with the 3rd row on the grid: Lewis Hamilton on P5 and teammate Heikki Kovalainen on P6. Mark Webber put his RB4 on P7 while David Coulthard (P17) was once again knocked out in Q1. Webber was followed by Jarno Trulli (P8), Nick Heidfeld (P9) and Nelson Piquet jr. (P10).
