2008 Monaco GP, 2nd Free Practice Session: Lewis Hamilton on top
The second free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix has ended with Lewis Hamilton on top of the timesheets. The Briton completed 40 laps with a best time of 1:15.140. Williams’ Nico Rosberg finished second (1:15.533, 39 laps) followed by Ferrari duo with Kimi Raikkonen on third (1:15.572, 42 laps) and Felipe Massa on fourth (1:15.869, 37 laps). Massa was followed by Heikki Kovalainen (1:15.881, 39 laps), Robert Kubica (1:16.296, 34 laps), Fernando Alonso (1:16.310, 27 laps), Jenson Button (1:16.351, 45 laps) and Kazuki Nakajima (1:16.372, 40 laps).
There were again a couple of crashes. Nelson Piquet jr. lost his car while approaching Turn 1 and hit the tyre barriers causing a damage on his R28 rear wing. About five minutes later, his team-mate Fernando Alonso brushed the barriers on the same Turn and lost his rear wing. The session was red flagged to clear debris from the Spaniard’s crash.
