2008 French GP, 1st free practice: Felipe Massa quickest

Felipe MassaThe 1st free practice session for the French Grand Prix took place this morning at the Magny Cours circuit. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa was the quickest man on track with a best time of 1:15.306 proving his strong pace by lapping more than half a second faster than McLaren duo and teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Massa was followed by Lewis Hamilton (1:16.002), Heikki Kovalainen (1:16.055) and Kimi Raikkonen (1:16.400) rounding up the top four. Championship leader Robert Kubica finished fifth (1:16.377) while Fernando Alonso sixth (1:16.400). The Spaniard, however, was unfortunate in the final minutes of the session as he had an engine failure.
