Robert Kubica firts GP winBMW’s Pole driver Robert Kubica has won the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix and become the first Pole to win a Formula One Grand Prix. Teammate Nick Heidfeld finished second completing the first ever one-two for the Hinwil based team. Red Bull’s David Coulthard managed to finish third and took his first points of the season. Coulthard was followed by Toyota’s Timo Glock (P4) and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (P5). Glock’s teammate Jarno Trulli crossed the finish line in sixth place ahead of Rubens Barrichello (P7) and Sebastian Vettel (P8).

The race has been marked with a major error made by McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton who while exiting the pitlane after his first pit stop, crashed into the back of Raikkonen‘s F2008. Prior to the incident, which is expected to be investigated by the race stewards, 7 cars entered to pit during a Safety Car period. Kubica and Raikkonen managed to pit faster than Hamilton, and as the red light at the pit exit was on, they were forced to halt and wait for the green. The Briton, however, didn’t notice the red light and crashed into the back of the Finn’s Ferrari.
