Vitantonio Liuzzi’s future still uncertain 

Vitantonio Liuzzi suggested earlier this morning, that his immediate future might lie outside of F1. The 25 year old Italian, who has raced 39 Grand Prix for Red Bull and more recently its junior team Toro Rosso, was hoping to rescue his career with Williams next year. With the Grove-based team leaving Liuzzi out of its newly announced 2008 line-up, he told F1′s official website that he might not find an alternate seat for next year.

“As we speak I don’t know where my future lies, but I hope it is in F1, if only because it would be nice to see all my Toro Rosso crew again next year,” Liuzzi said on Friday.

He characterises the tumultuous 2007 season, in which his initial teammate Scott Speed was ousted mid-season by his Toro Rosso bosses, as ‘tough’ but thinks he ended the year strongly alongside Sebastian Vettel. “Towards the end of the year, the reliability improved and I was able to remind people of my abilities,” Liuzzi said. “We were a good fit – me an Italian driver and them an Italian team, but sadly that is over now.”
