Timo GlockNewly crowned GP2 champion Timo Glock has confirmed reports that a contractual dispute with BMW Sauber is currently standing in the way to his becoming a Toyota race driver in 2008. It was reported yesterday that F1′s Contract Recognition Board is refusing to certify the rookie German’s 3 year Toyota deal because of a conflict with his existing arrangement with BMW.

Glock was a BMW Sauber test driver this year, and the Hinwil-based team also possesses an option on his services as a test driver for 2008. Asked by the German newspaper Bild on Saturday if he was disappointed that BMW is apparently blocking his promotion to Toyota, Glock replied: “I have a great chance with another great team to get a cockpit. At the moment BMW can not offer that to me. That is why I have to change to somewhere else,” he added. “Of course I am very grateful to BMW. They have helped me, I have helped them. But now I have the chance to take the next step. I really hope a solution will be reached,” said Glock. “I have the opportunity to go from the bench to a proper position at a different top team – and I will fight for that.”
