Sebastian Vettel grabs Hockenheim pole position 

Alonso beaten by just two thousandths of a second

Sebastian VettelRed Bull’s Sebastian Vettel took his sixth pole position in the season at his home Grand Prix at Hockenheim, Germany beating by just two thousandths of a second Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

Vettel clocked a best time of 1:13.791, 0.002 seconds quicker than Fernando Alonso (1:13.793) and 0.498 than Felipe Massa (1:14.290).

Mark Webber qualified fourth (1:14.347) ahead of Jenson Button (1:14.427), Lewis Hamilton (1:14.566), Robert Kubica (1:15.079), Rubens Barrichello (1:15.109), Nico Rosberg (1:15.179) and Nico Hulkenberg (1:15.339).

Local hero Michael Schumacher finished eleventh and was followed by Kamui Kobayashi, Vitaly Petrov, Adrian Sutil who’s carrying a five place grid penalty for a gearbox change, Pedro de la Rosa, Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi.

The qualifying session was red flagged for a few minutes during Q1 when Force India’s Tonio Liuzzi spun on the final corner and crashed into the pit wall, causing major damage to his car.
