Robert Kubica to get 2008 Lorenzo Bandini trophy

Robert KubicaOn May 18th 2008, in the town of Brisighella in Italy, young Polish driver Robert Kubica will receive the prestigious 2008 Lorenzo Bandini trophy. Kubica was born on December 7th, 1984 in Krakow, Poland, and made his F1 debut in August 2006, when he replaced his former teammate, Jacques Villeneuve, at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.

In his third race, the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, Kubica finished in a personal best third position, and became the first Polish driver to appear on a Formula One podium, as well as the first Polish driver to lead a Grand Prix.  In the current season the Polish has scored his first ever pole position at the Bahraini Grand Prix and has finished on the podium in two out of three Grand Prix.

Other drivers which have been previously honored with the Lorenzo Bandini trophy are: Felipe Massa, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso,  Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jenson Button, Jarno Trulli, Alex Wurz, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jacques Villeneuve and David Coulthard.
