According to reports, ING Renault’s new single-seater – the R29 – has failed two of the three mandatory FIA crash tests: the nose and the side impact test. A Renault spokesman has confirmed that the tests had been failed, but stated that the team’s engineers know exactly what went wrong and the issues have already been solved: the next test should grant the new car the green light. For this reason the car’s scheduled track debut on January 19th at the Portimao circuit in Portugal, remains unchanged.
